Power Distribution Panels Are Replaced and Relocated
The existing power distribution panel that was located in a chronically wet basement next to an asbestos covered boiler. This boiler and the associated steam heating system has not been used for decades. The reconstruction design relocated the distribution panels to a more accessible location. This design decision eliminated work in a hazardous area and provided improved maintenance access. The work also included replacement of all electrical equipment and devices to be in compliance with current codes.
Planning Minimizes The Impact To Ongoing Terminal Operations
The scope of repairs done to the sheetrock and vinyl wall covering in the Mercury terminal building that was caused by water leaking through broken windows and the damaged roof. The wall coverings were removed in accordance with the documented and agreed-to damage scope, and then were replaced with an equivalent material that was ordered soon after the loss. Approval was obtained from the adjuster prior to implementing the repairs. Because the repair work was pre-planned in detail the work did not interfere with normal terminal operations.
Underground Storage Tanks Were Discovered & Removed
Two large underground storage tanks that were discovered during excavation and removed during installation of the sub-grade electrical service to Hangar #1. To the right the tanks are going throught the cleaning and hazard mitigation operation. The Airport Authority provided the cleaning service to ensure that all regulatory requirements were met for lawful disposal of the tanks. An underground utility locator service and a study of the Phase 1 environmental report did not reveal the tanks.
